Kanchipuram is basically a religious city and a centre for pilgrimage. The city is also famous for its silk trade and its Silk saris are also famous all over the world.

City of Thousand Temples
Kanchipuram is one among the most spiritual pilgrimage spots within India. The city has numerous grand and majestic temples that will sweep you off your feet, with their architectural splendour. One not only gets spiritual salvation from these temples but one also gets an insight into the evolution of the south Indian style of temple architecture. The architectural experiments and refinements that came about during the rule of various dynasties are reflected in these temples.

Temples of Kanchipuram
As one of the seven religious cities of India, Kanchipuram housed thousand temples of which nearly 200 are extinct. These temples reflect the Pallava art and architecture with the decorations from the Chola, the Vijayanagara and Chalukyas kings.
