Chikmanglur Tours
The hilly terrain and picturesque enclosures of Chikmagalur will soothe your spirits throughout the Chikmagalur sightseeing tour. Chikmagalur trips will encompass the lofty Baba Budangiri peaks and expansive tracts of coffee plantations.
Angadi: Historians have recognised Angadi as Sasakapura or Sosevur, the initial home of Hoyasalas who held sway in huge swathes of South India. The shrine here has pillars of granite with cylindrical shafts and hemi spherical mouldings.
Belavadi: The pilgrimage of Belavadi is dashed with several very vintage temples and shrines. The Veeranarayana temple is a supreme demonstration of Hoysala temple architecture.
Coffee Plantations: Sprawling coffee plantations spot the countryside of this high ground station. As a foremost coffee making hub of the homeland, it hosts several coffee curing hubs where the raw coffee is dehydrated, uncovered, winnowed, ranked and packed. When coffee bushes blossom in April, the entire locality is topped up with the superb fragrance of the bright white flowers. The Central Coffee Research Institute is established in the district.
The Baba Budangiri Hills: The Baba Budangiri hills are named after the Muslim saint, Baba Budan, who took up house here in the 17th century. The Baba Budan Shrine is revered by both the Hindus and Muslims and thousands of devotees throng the shrine for the blessings of the peer. A complex of three caves can be discovered here, accepted to have been sanctified by 3 revered siddhas whose icons and 'gaddinges' (tombs) are established in the caves.
