Fort Overview
Built in 1345 Taragarh fort was the center of the kingdom of Rajasthan at that time. There are large water reservoirs where the water is stored to protect from any kind of water shortage. All these reservoirs are made out at the rock base of the fort and at that period almost all the people of that region took shelter in the fort. At the center of the fort there is a large ancient cannon which gives a feel of the legend of the people who lived over there. Garbha Gunjan the second largest cannon of India is also located at the fort and it is said that the soldiers used to run away after firing it as it made a very deafening sound. The other attraction inside the fort is the Rani Mahal which is a small palace that was built for the wives of the rulers. The main entrance of the Fort is situated around 39 kilometers away from the city and can be reached through a sharply sloping road. Apart from the main entrance there are three more gateways to the fort. These three gates are named Phuta Darwaza, Lakshmi Pol and Gagudi ki Phalki.
