Fort Overview
Built in 1345 Taragarh fort was the center of the kingdom of Rajasthan
at that time. There are large water reservoirs where the water is stored
to protect from any kind of water shortage. All these reservoirs are
made out at the rock base of the fort and at that period almost all the
people of that region took shelter in the fort. At the center of the
fort there is a large ancient cannon which gives a feel of the legend of
the people who lived over there. Garbha Gunjan the second largest cannon
of India is also located at the fort and it is said that the soldiers
used to run away after firing it as it made a very deafening sound. The
other attraction inside the fort is the Rani Mahal which is a small
palace that was built for the wives of the rulers. The main entrance of
the Fort is situated around 39 kilometers away from the city and can be
reached through a sharply sloping road. Apart from the main entrance
there are three more gateways to the fort. These three gates are named
Phuta Darwaza, Lakshmi Pol and Gagudi ki Phalki. The main entrance is
