Fort Overview
Mehrangarh Fort is located in the city of Jodhpur which is the state of
Rajasthan and is one of the most visited places for tourists. The fort
is situated at a good height from the city, i.e. above 400 feet. The
fort is surrounded by thick walls all around it. Inside the fort there
are sprawling courtyards and intricate carvings at several places which
are quite famous. The different places which are notable are the Phool
Mahal or the Flower Palace, Moti Mahal or the Pearl Palace, Sheesh Mahal
or the Mirror Palace, Daulat Khana and Sileh Khana. The museum houses
contain exquisite collections of howdahs, palanquins, miniatures, royal
cradles, costumes, musical instruments and furniture. The city, when
viewed from the fort, looks awesome.
Location of Mehrangarh Fort
The fort is located in Jodhpur at Rajasthan. It lies on a sheer hill
slap which is in the midpoint of Jodhpur and it is among Indias
largest fort. The gates of the fort have pockmarks which were embedded
by invaders who tried to invade this fort but were unsuccessful because
the walls of the fort are 68-feet high and 17-feet thick. The Mehrangarh
Fort is situated about 400-feet above the main city of Jodhpur.
Nearby Destinations
The Jaswant Thada where there lie the royal crematorium collections, in
white marble, is a cenotaph situated near the Mehrangarh Fort.
The other nearby places to which can be visited are the Girdikot and
Sardar market, Maha Mandir, Government Museum, Mandor Park and the Kaman
art gallery. These places are a bit far away from the Mehrangarh
Fort but are good places to be visited while touring Jodhpur.
