Surajgarh Fort
Surajgarh is one of Shekawati regions most popular hotels. Its name literally means 'castle of the sun', and it has managed to hold on to the classic heritage hotel status and legacy. The palatial structure sprawls over 4 acres of area engulfing a lush green garden and a panoramic fort. The heritage property was meticulously re-designed and renovated to provide a truly royal experience. Surajgarh Fort saw its construction begin in the year 1780 when the then Ruler of Jhunjhuna region Suraj Mal decided to build the fort. The original reason however was to create a source of employment to the neighboring villagers apart from having a safe place from the enemies and bandits. Adding to its charm are the splendid frescos depicting scenes from the bygone age. The fort is still owned by the royal family of Tikarani Shailaja and Tikaraj Aishwarya Katoch.
