the place where Lord Buddha was cremated and got Mahaparinirvana.
Nirvana Temple: The Founder of the Buddhist faith, Gautam Buddha is said to have breathed his last near this temple. The shrine houses a statue of Buddha that is 6 metres long.
Mathakaut Temple: Mathakaut Temple is one of the most known and most toured shrines within Kushinagar. The Mathakaut shrine is situated at a distance of 300 meters from Maha-Parinirvana Stupa, another famous Buddhist shrine in Kushinagar. The site became famous when a black stone image of Buddha was recovered during morning excavations.
Watt Thai Temple: The architectural design of the temple is unique in the entire sub –continent and that is why it can be sighted from anywhere and everywhere within Kushinagar. The Temple has been laid out on a lush green lawn that extends upto several acres of land.
Japanese Temple: This is a must visit spot during your travel towards Kushinagar. A magnificent 'Ashta Dhatu' or 'Eight Metals' statue of Lord Buddha marks this temple. This statue was dismantled and brought from Japan and later on reassembled and erected in this temple.
