Durgapur Tours
Durgapur is an industrialized town located on the embankments of the river Damodar and it has the third integrated steel plant of Hindustan Steel Limited and inhabits an area of 6.47 sq. km. Inspite of being an industrial town it still has some interesting places of tourist interest.
Bhabani Pathak's Tilla - made prominent in the narrative ‘Durgesnandini’ by Bankim Chattopadhyay. It consists of an unbelievable network of tunnels starting near the City Centre region right up to the Damodar river. Rahreswar Shibtola - this shrine is more than 800 years old (according to the Archaeological Survey of India) and is built in the style of Rathas of Southern India.
Troika Park: It is an enjoyable place for kids and is located near City Centre. It has got a toy-train, a few rides and a bunch of other attractions. Flanking it is a deer park. One can actually walk in and touch a few of the deer. Tourists can also find a leisure boating lake close by.
Kumaramangalam Park: A shade of its former fine-looking self. The lovely lake is somewhat dirty. However tourists use it to stretch out arelax and refresh themselves. Durgapur Barrage - Undeniably one of the best places to see, if you are interested in one of two things: environment and man's effort to control its ferocity. And if you really are game, you should be there at the height of monsoons. Try peering over the railings to watch water being let out of the lock-gates. It is an extraordinary sight. Durgapur Steel Plant - The steel plant is one awe-inspiring object to see. It is hard to envisage the scale and magnitude of things that happen.
