Dalhousie Tours
Discovered in the year 1854, by the then British Governor General Lord Dalhousie, Dalhousie is one the finest hill stations in India. The places of tourist interest in and around Dalhousie include Subhash Baoli, Panchpula and Bakorta Hill. Satdhara is another interesting place that is located at an altitude of 2036 metres and is ideal for some quiet moments. The spectacular snow-covered Dhauladhar mountain ranges are also visible form this enchanting township.
Churches of Dalhousie are worth a visit as tourists can spend the day in visiting the magnificent churches of Dalhousie. Amongst the most popular churches are St. Andrew's Church and St. Patrick's Church at Balun, St. Francis Church at Subhash Chowk and St. John's Church at Gandhi Chowk.
Located around 5 kilometers from Dalhousie is another fascinating destination called Kalatope. Perched at the altitude of 8000 feet, it offers the perfect trekking trail that takes you to Lakkarmandi, from where the Dyan Kund is easily visible. The Kalatope Wildlife Sanctuary is also located close by. Khajarr is another exciting tourist spot located at the distance of 26 kilometers from Dalhousie .Visit the scenic lake and the 12th century temple dedicated to Khajjair. Within the temple are life-size wooden images of the five Pandav brothers.
Mcleodganj, the ‘Little Tibet’ is also located closeby. Tourists can take a tour of the Namgyal Monastery, St. John Church and the graveyard of Lord Elgin. Also take a tour of the small market filled with variety of Tibetan handicrafts and artefacts. It will take around ten hours to reach Delhi from Dharamsala.
