Golden Temple:
Also renowned as Sri Harmandir Sahib, the Golden Temple was constructed by Guru Ram Das during the 14th century. It is acclaimed as one of the most revered sites of Sikh religion. Displaying both Hindu and Muslim methods of architecture, it displays a gigantic golden dome. Its architectural brilliance sketches the interest of all and sundry round the globe. Although principally a pilgrimage location for the Sikhs, it is one of the utmost tourist enticements in Amritsar.
Jallianwala Bagh:
One title that hits your mind about Amritsar is the Jallianwala Bagh. Located besides the Golden Temple, it bears observer to the tragedy called Jallianwala Bagh Massacre during the British Raj. General Dyer set a congregation on fire at the venue where some Punjabis accumulated for Baisakhi (New Year) commemorations on 13 April 1919.
Wagah Border:
About 28 kms from About Amritsar, the Wagah Border is an armed detachment outpost on India and Pakistan boundary between the towns of About Amritsar and Lahore.
Tarn Taran:
At roughly 25 kms to the south of Amritsar stands the Tarn Taran - a lagoon which bears holy as well as health associations adhered to it. Constructed by Ranjit Singh, it has fairs that are commemorated on every ‘Amavas’ night.
