History of India

History of India is a diverse but interesting account of the varying customs, cultures, traditions and various stories of succession. The erstwhile gory details are now a glorious past to ponder.  Indian History has always intrigued Indian and western historians. During their trip to India, tourist will get a chance to be a witness to this glorious historical account.  

The Indian has always been a historians delight and often been frequented by the historians and travellers from various corners of the globe. There are various tales of invasion and succession, adding to the cultural diversity of India. The country is home to the people from different religious backgrounds and a sense of belonging that makes a harmonious ambience highly admired by the visitors.  

The excerpts of the ancient history of India have been deducted from the 2,500 years old remnants excavated from the Mohenjadaro and Harappa, giving an insight into the Indus valley civilization.  After flourishing for more than 1,000 years, this civilization declined due to some assumed geographical disasters.

 The next major event that changed the course of Indian history is arrival of Aryans in India from the North West through the Khyber Pass. The Aryans settled on the fertile land of Indo Gangetic plains. The medieval history of India has various phases of progressions and is witness to the rise and fall of the various empires. The Golden age of the Guptas and the rule of Mauryan Empire are some of the major events of this period.

The advent of Islam and the invasions of the Afghans and the Turks and the period afterward, started a long war of succession. After giving some resistance the kings and the rulers finally gave up to the invaders.

The next phase of Indian history is marked by the    colonial rulers like the British, Dutch, French and the Portuguese. After a long war of independence finally India set free in 1947.
