The state with breathtaking beauty is known by different names in the local dialect. The different ethnic group that inhabit this land has their own name to pronounce their state. The people of Nepalese origin call it Sukhim, which literally means new home. The people of Tibetan origin call it as Denzong, meaning the valley of rice. The Lepchas, the aborigines inhabiting the state of Sikkim, call it Nye-al-Ale that literally means heaven.
