Fort William: Built in late 18th century, the Fort William stands sombrely on the Western bank of Hoogly. It extends from the Western flank of the Red Road. This citadel was constructed to prevent situations similar to Plassey, when the Nawab captured the incoming British troops in a matter of hours.
