Bhopal Tours
The city ruffles on the embankments of a vast lake traversing several square miles, which dominates its landscape and affords it a magnetic, spellbinding quality that’s hard to resist. The serenity of the lake is perhaps, to a large extent, responsible for an air of almost premeditated laziness and complacency. Situated in the north-western part of Madhya Pradesh along the gradients of a sandstone ridge, Bhopal is rather warm during summers. The monsoons arrive here during the calendar month of July-September. The winters are quite cool and pleasant and are the ideal time to visit the city. Some other places of tourist interest include:-
Lakshmi Narayan Temple: Also known as the Birla Mandir, the Lakshmi Narayan Temple is located to the south of the Lower Lake on the Arera Hills. Taj-ul Masjid: Taj-ul Masjid is one of the biggest mosques in India. The construction of this masjid was started by Shah Jahan Begum during her reign (1868-1901) but it was never accomplished in her lifetime. It was only with the intervention of the government of India in 1971 that the construction of the mosque was eventually completed. Shaukat Mahal: In the heart of the walled city, at the entranceway to the Chowk area lies Shaukat Mahal. The edifice arouses archaeological interest as it is set in different European styles thereby setting it apart from the preponderantly Islamic architecture of the area. Sadar Manzil: Near the Shaukat Mahal lies the graceful Sadar Manzil. It is supposed to be the hall of public audience of the erstwhile rulers of Bhopal
